Christmas From God’s Perspective

John 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. …

John 1 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. 15 John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' "

John 1 16 From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.
Because of Christmas, we can know what God is like

John 1:18

Hebrews 1:1-3
1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being

“Man’s maker was made man that He, Ruler of stars might nurse at His mother’s breast; that the Bread might hunger, the Fountain thirst, the Light sleep, the Way be tired on its journey; that truth might be accused of false witness, the Teacher be beaten by whips, the Foundation be suspended on wood; that Strength might grow weak; that the Healer might be wounded, that Life might die.”

- Augustine  Because of Christmas, God understand what we are like

Hebrews 4:15-16
16 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Because of Christmas, we can truly be free – and we can face life with courage

John 1:4-5

Because of Christmas, we know that God is involved – He is not far off

John 1:14
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us
Because of Christmas, we can know God

John 1:12
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
